Avalon missing from Daniel Andrews’ aviation ‘plan’

During Question Time in the Victorian Parliament today, it was revealed that Labor’s new aviation plan did not mention Avalon once.

The report highlights facilities and infrastructure at other airports including Sale and Laverton but is silent on Avalon Airport.

Labor’s aviation industry policy, Victoria – Providing complete capability: aviation and aerospace’, was launched by Industry Minister Lily D’Ambrosio on 24 February 2015 and can be found on the Department’s website via the link below.

Quotes attributable to Shadow Minister for Industry, Ryan Smith:

“With so many jobs hanging in the balance at Avalon Airport it is shocking that Daniel Andrews’ new aviation plan fails to mention Avalon even once.

“How can Jetstar have the confidence to invest in Avalon Airport and save local jobs when Daniel Andrews’ own aviation plan offers no future for Victoria’s second major airport?”
