Funding boost for Sunbury Sport

The Liberal Nationals are committed to supporting local sporting clubs by investing in their facilities.

If elected, a Liberal Nationals Government will contribute $500,000 towards upgrading the Sunbury Kangaroos Football and Netball Club clubrooms.

The clubrooms, located at Erick Boardman Reserve will have a much needed upgrade as well as catering for the newly formed women’s football team and existing female netball club.

With a high level of population growth in the Sunbury electorate, clubs such as these desperately need upgrades to keep up with membership demands.

The Sunbury Kangaroos Football and Netball club is home to approximately 1200 members and its growth is mirroring the skyrocketing popularity in women’s football grows and the population growth in Sunbury and surrounding communities continue to grow.

Unlike Daniel Andrews who has decided to give a massive $225 million of taxpayers’ money to the AFL to upgrade Etihad Stadium, the Liberal Nationals are getting behind cash-strapped local sporting clubs who desperately need our support.

Comments attributable to Opposition spokesman, Brad Battin:

“Josh Bull has backed Labor’s decision to gift the AFL – the richest sporting organisation in the country – $225 million at the expense of clubs like the Sunbury Kangaroos.

Sunbury needs a strong representative like Cassandra Marr who will fight for more local funding.

Cass is focusing on the issues that matter, and she’s fighting for her local community and that’s why the Liberal Nationals are backing her policy to make Sunbury sporting clubs the best it can be.”

Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Sunbury, Cassandra Marr:

“Sport brings local communities like Sunbury together.

I have worked tirelessly with community leaders to deliver this funding and if I’m elected as Member for Sunbury, I will keep working hard and keep delivering.”
