Liberal Nationals delivering for Cowes CFA

An elected Liberal Nationals Government will provide $2.1 million to build a brand new CFA station for Cowes.

Phillip Island is home to over 10,000 residents which swells enormously during the peak periods. Tourist traffic can constrain access around the Island which adds difficulty to the location of the current station.

As a tourism hotspot, the CFA station on Phillip Island finds itself responsible for providing support and protection to many tourism events, including the MotoGP, V8 Supercars, the Superbikes and many other events held at the world class track.

CFA volunteers give their all to their communities, often leaving their families and friends at all hours to help protect our communities, often in dangerous and trying circumstances.

A new station would enhance safety for residents and tourists and provide the best facilities available to do this vital work.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin:

“Volunteers selflessly give their time to serve their community – they deserve the best possible equipment and the respect of their State Government.

While Daniel Andrews is at war with CFA volunteers, the Liberal Nationals are getting on with funding CFA stations and keep Victorians safe.”

Comments attributable to Member for Bass, Brian Paynter:

“In order to build a strong fire service for the future it is important that we listen and work with our local firefighters.

I’ve worked closely with the Cowes CFA volunteers to identify their needs and provide a solution.

This is a great result for the Phillip Island community.”
