Daniel Andrews must get union out of the way of PSO rollout

Daniel Andrews has lost control of crime in Victoria, and now he’s failing to keep public transport commuters safe as well.

A plan to put Protective Service Officers on trains, trams and buses has been stalled just days out from its launch, putting commuters at unnecessary risk.

The plan was put into place under the former Liberal Nationals government, and was due to launch on 2 September, but this morning 3AW revealed a move by the Rail, Tram and Bus Union to block PSOs from patrolling carriages.

Once again the unions’ best mate, Daniel Andrews, is beholden to the demands of a militant union, and completely unable or unwilling to stand up to them.

Assaults have increased by 17.2% since Daniel Andrews was elected, with public transport commuters at risk along with the rest of the community.

Daniel Andrews must intervene to ensure there is no delay in improving the safety and well-being of Victorian commuters.

Daniel Andrews’ inaction is putting Victorian public transport users at risk. Taking immediate action is the only responsible and acceptable option.
