Liberal Nationals to upgrade Beaconsfield Railway Station
An elected Liberal Nationals Government will deliver over $1.7 million towards the upgrade of Beaconsfield Railway Station and provide additional car parking for the station.
At least 100 additional car parking spaces will be constructed under the Liberal Nationals’ plan for Beaconsfield, providing much needed infrastructure for the growing community and easing the parking gridlock on nearby residential streets.
The new car park will also have CCTV cameras and improved lighting to ensure commuters arrive home safely no matter what time it is.
A new platform shelter, toilets, seating and a Parkiteer Cage will be included in the upgrade. Secure storage for bikes will assist in getting more people to the station without the use of a car.
The previous Coalition Government in 2011 built 157 car parks at the station and improved security at the station with PSO’s from 6pm to last train 7 days a week. Since then, despite huge growth, the Andrews Labor Government has failed to construct one new car park, upgrade station facilities or improve security for your trip home.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Public Transport, David Davis:
“The upgrade of Beaconsfield Railway Station is long overdue, and Jacinta Allan and Daniel Andrews have ignored this important local issue for the last four years.
Brad Battin has been listening to the community and working hard with our team to deliver better local public transport, less congested local roads and more local jobs. He has been knocking on doors on Spring Street and is refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer.”
Comments attributable to Member for Gembrook, Brad Battin:
“For years commuters have been forced to park on residential streets and grass land, many receiving fines from Cardinia Council as they take the risk to get to university and work.
The community has outgrown the station, these new facilities will accommodate for the growing number of commuters whilst taking the strain off the surrounding residential streets.
Only a Liberal Nationals Government can be trusted upgrading Beaconsfield Railway Station and providing more car parks and facilities for commuters.”
