Liberals back the community at the Kyneton Town Square
The Liberal Nationals are committed to preserving our public spaces for the community to utilise.
That’s why the Liberals will support the Kyneton & District Town Square Co-op Limited being given sole access to occupy and maintain the site for an initial one year period.
The elected Board of the Kyneton & District Town Square Co-op Limited will have the opportunity over one year to manage and maintain the site, while finalising their plans for creating an exciting, viable and community-driven future for the site.
During this period, the process of rezoning the site will commence to enable public use of the site in the future.
This builds on the Liberal Nationals commitment earlier this year that the former Kyneton Primary School site would remain in public hands as Crown Land.
Once we lose our community and open spaces, they are gone for good. Only the Liberals will keep these spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Macedon, Amanda Millar:
“Mary Anne Thomas and Labor have totally disregarded the wishes of this community – while the Liberals are putting their faith in the passion, vision and drive of this community-driven group who have already signed up hundreds of members and dozens of locals groups eager to be a part of the future of this site as central to Kyneton.
This is a great day for this strong community who have at every turn fought to protect the beautiful bluestone building and the Kyneton Town Square concept despite all the failed State Government consultation processes and months and months of delay.”
