Davis: Neerim and Glen Huntly Road crossings to go rail under road under Liberal Nationals

Neerim and Glen Huntly Road crossings to go rail under road under Liberal Nationals

A Liberal Nationals Government will remove the Glen Huntly Road, Glen Huntly and Neerim Road, Glen Huntly level crossings with rail under road.

Labor can’t be trusted not to revert to Skyrail. It lied before the last election promising to use rail under road and instead using Skyrail on the crossings along the corridor between Carnegie and Hughesdale.

The Liberal Nationals will get ahead of vital road infrastructure like removing dangerous and frustrating rail crossings to keep traffic moving during peak times.

Labor, regardless of what it may say before the election, will regard re-election as endorsement of its preferred Skyrail solution to level crossing removals and will continue to roll out its ugly, noisy and intrusive elevated rail across Melbourne.

The Liberal Nationals have been listening to local communities and have heard loud and clear that Melbournians prefer rail under road level crossing removals.

Only a Liberal Nationals Government will get back in control of congestion, so people can get home faster and spend more time with their families.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Public Transport, David Davis:

“Labor loves Skyrail and any promises it makes to the contrary simply cannot be trusted.

Labor lied to the communities along the Caulfield to Dandenong line in 2014 and it is lying to communities along the Frankston line now.”

Comments attributable to Liberal Member for Caulfield, David Southwick:

“Businesses, commuters and drivers are all calling for these crossings to go.

Only the election of a Liberal Nationals Government will remove the Glen Huntly and Neerim Road level crossings and guarantee Glen Huntly is not permanently disfigured by Daniel Andrews’ ugly and intrusive Skyrail.

My community has spoken. They want rail under road and only the Liberal Nationals can be trusted to deliver it.”

Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Oakleigh, Andrew Edmonds:

“The residents of the Oakleigh electorate know Labor has form on level crossing removals.

We were promised rail under road on the Cranbourne/Pakenham line before the last election and instead Daniel Andrews has permanently disfigured our community with his massive, intrusive and noisy Skyrail.

Once bitten twice shy. Labor’s promises are a lie. Labor simply cannot be trusted.”
