On 6 December 2011 the Coalition Government acted immediately on reports of past contamination of the Fiskville site which was said to have occurred over several decades.
Professor Robert Joy was appointed to review and make recommendations to ensure the site was safe.
The Joy report was handed to the Government on 28 June 2012 and all 10 recommendations and 11 management initiatives were adopted and acted on.
The then Coalition Government invested $16.8m for the remediation of Fiskville and regional training colleges. The then Coalition Government also funded and delivered town water to the site for drinking and for use on all hot training activities.
