Guy: Armstrong Creek Emergency Services Precinct

Tuesday 26 June 2018

Armstrong Creek Emergency Services Precinct

An elected Liberal Nationals Government will commit $7.1 million towards construction of a new CFA and Ambulance Station in Armstrong Creek.

The precinct will house a brand new CFA station and ambulance branch.

Armstrong Creek is one of the fastest growing suburbs in Victoria, with an expected 22,000 residential homes in the local area requiring additional emergency services for the future.

The precinct will be built on the land already allocated at the corner of Surf Coast Hwy and Boundary Road Armstrong Creek.

This new site will service the needs for Southern Geelong and the Armstrong Creek growth area.

While Daniel Andrews wages his war with the CFA, the Liberal Nationals are committed to backing our hardworking emergency services workers and are committed to providing the facilities and tools they need to keep Victorians safe.

The need for this new station was highlighted following the tragic death of a women from fire in Armstrong Creek on Boxing Day 2017. Since then the community has been calling for improved facilities to help keep residents safe.

Comments attributable to Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy:

“Only the Liberal Nationals back our hardworking emergency service workers. We respect them, we will build them better facilities.

I’ll keep Victorians safe and if that means more police, more ambulance or more fire stations, that’s what I’ll do.”

Comments attributable to Member for South Barwon, Andrew Katos:

“I am extremely pleased to join Matthew Guy today and announce that if elected we will build Armstrong Creek a new CFA and Ambulance station.

When I’m out in the community I continually hear from Armstrong Creek residents that they need this new precinct and today I can say a Liberal Government will deliver it.”

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin:

“Daniel Andrews has been so busy fighting a war with CFA volunteers that communities like Armstrong Creek have suffered.

Unlike Daniel Andrews, we will not wage war with our firefighters, we will back them and all our hardworking emergency service workers who continue to keep us safe.”
