ECONOMIC VANDALISM ON EAST WEST LINK

Premier Daniel Andrews is playing politics with Victorian jobs, Opposition Leader Matthew Guy says.

“We welcome any debate and discussion about the East West Link because Victorians want job creating projects and less congestion on our roads,” said Matthew Guy.

“While Daniel Andrews is busy planning to release the business case for the East West Link, he should offer up the business cases for the desalination plant, Myki and the North South Pipeline.

“At a time when the government should be focussed on creating jobs, Daniel Andrews is engaging in economic vandalism by scrapping over 3,000 jobs and tearing up a legal contract.

“Approximately 80,000 people move to Melbourne every year and Daniel Andrews has no plan to relieve traffic congestion for that growth.

“Daniel Andrews has issued a unilateral suspension order on construction work for next week. We challenge him to tell Victorians what clause of the contract he is relying on and if those workers will still be paid during the suspension.

“The fact is, Daniel Andrews’ suspension order is playing politics with over 3,000 jobs while putting our liveability at risk,” said Matthew Guy.
