$15 million for Police Station in Clyde North

The Liberal Nationals have today committed to funding the purchase of land and building of a $15 million Clyde North Police Station if they win government.

The new station will be open to the public but will also function as a hub station to relieve pressure on Cranbourne and surrounding stations.

Between 2014 and 2016 the City of Casey grew by 25,000, a growth of 8.65% and it is anticipated that the population will reach 515,000 by 2041.

As population continues to soar, a substantial increase in police numbers are required to respond to the rapid growth in Casey and the surrounding south-east growth corridor.

Despite this massive population boom, the Casey Police Service Area (PSA) is significantly under-resourced with sworn police according to The Police Association as well as having reduced hours at Endeavour Hills Police station.

Since Daniel Andrews was elected, crime in the area has skyrocketed:

  • Cranbourne up 26%
  • Cranbourne East up 67% (aggravated burglary up 1350%)
  • Cranbourne West up 79% (motor vehicle theft up 320%)
  • Cranbourne North up 78%
  • Clyde up 59% (crimes against the person up 127%)
  • Clyde North up 48% (criminal damage up 800%)
  • 1 in 19 homes in Clyde North was burgled in 2016

Comments attributable to Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy:

Only the Liberal Nationals will build a Police Station at Clyde North to keep local families safe.

While Daniel Andrews cuts and closes Police stations, only the Liberal Nationals will invest in a new station at Clyde North.

Daniel Andrews has lost control of law and order, only the Liberal Nationals will make Victoria safe by building new Police Stations.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Police, Edward O’Donohue:

Where Daniel Andrews and his absentee local MPs have failed, a Guy Government will deliver.

Only the Liberal Nationals have the plans and resolve to tackle the law and order crisis confronting Casey.

Comments attributable to Member for Bass, Brian Paynter:

Daniel Andrews has ignored the people of Clyde North while our homes have been invaded and businesses terrorised.

Crime is surging and only the Liberal Nationals have a plan to tackle this problem.
