Lights on at Prahran Market

Solar panels will be installed at the Prahran Market if the Liberal Nationals are elected to Government.

A Matthew Guy Government will provide a grant of $75,000 to the City of Stonnington to support the installation of a 99kWh solar electricity system to assist small businesses cope with rising power prices.

Energy costs continue to soar under Daniel Andrews and are hurting small businesses and families.

The Prahran Market has a high energy demand due to the large number of meat and fish vendors who depend on various refrigeration units. As energy costs increase, so does the cost for these small businesses to operate.

Only the Liberal Nationals have a plan to tackle soaring energy costs and help small business owners.

Comments attributable to Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy:

“Small businesses and family budgets are hit hardest as power prices surge under Daniel Andrews.

“A Liberal Nationals Government I lead will do renewables right and offer real solutions to reduce the cost of electricity for Victorian consumers and businesses.”

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, David Southwick:

“Costs continue to rise for the Prahran Market due to Daniel Andrews scrambling from one botched energy policy to the next.

“Labor has no plan to ensure a reliable and secure energy supply for Victorian businesses and only a Matthew Guy Government will fix that.”

Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Prahran, Dr Katie Allen:

“Prahran Market attracts 3 million customers annually and is both a valued local community focal point and a major tourist destination.

“If the Liberal Nationals are elected we will help showcase Prahran’s local sustainability agenda and provide a pragmatic way to reduce the cost of doing business for local stall holders.”
