Bannockburn to get roundabout under Liberals
A Liberal Nationals Government will fund $3 million for the construction of a roundabout at Bannockburn’s busy intersection at High St, Clyde Rd and Geelong Rd next to the railway crossing.
An elected Liberal Nationals Government will commit to build the roundabout to take back control of Bannockburn’s growing traffic and improve the safety of the town’s major intersection.
On Tuesday both Member for Polwarth, Richard Riordan MP and candidate for Western Victoria, Bev McArthur, were met by locals and councillors at the site in Bannockburn to make the announcement.
Comment attributable to Shadow Minister for Roads and Infrastructure, David Hodgett:
“Safer roads save lives which is why Richard Riordan has been working hard to secure this funding for Bannockburn.
Richard is one of the hardest working MPs in parliament and is always fighting for his community.
He’s been listening to the local community as well as the SES and CFA to improve the safety of this notorious intersection and he’s delivered the funding.
Nationals Government will fund this vital upgrade to improve safety and improve traffic efficiency at this busy intersection.”
Comment attributable to Member for Polwarth, Richard Riordan:
“Daniel Andrews couldn’t find Bannockburn with a GPS or a map.
This community has been ignored by this city-centric Premier who is more interested in Brunswick than Bannockburn.
This infrastructure will improve traffic flows entering and exiting Bannockburn’s High Street which will make it safer for motorists and pedestrians.
This promise complements our plans for a Geelong Metro train service for Bannockburn making it a highly liveable commuter township.”
