Daniel Andrews desperate to avoid scrutiny on dud West Gate Tunnel deal
The release of the West Gate Tunnel contract on the last business day of the year highlights how desperate Daniel Andrews is to hide the dud deal he has signed Victorians up to.
The contract that has been released is heavily redacted and hides the true cost of what Daniel Andrews has signed Victorians up to. So much for the transparency Daniel Andrews claimed before the election.
Daniel Andrew’s dud deal means higher tolls, longer tolls, new tolls and a city access tax.
There’s nothing fair about slugging motorists in the north, east and south-east with up to 10 years of extra tolls to pay for a road in the west that they will never use.
Daniel Andrews has no mandate for his West Gate Tunnel project and no mandate to hit motorists on other roads with a $15 billion toll extension.
That is why the Liberal Nationals will vote to disallow any Andrews Labor Government proposal to amend the CityLink Concession Deed to extend tolls in order to fund the West Gate Tunnel. We have advised Transurban of our position.
The Liberal Nationals have made it clear we will honour any Victorian Government contracts validly entered in to.
