Hodgett: Improving crossing safety in Sunbury

Improving crossing safety in Sunbury

Sunbury is bursting at the seams. More and more pressure is being added to one of the busiest roads in the electorate.

That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals Government will provide $350,000 to build a pedestrian crossing across Riddell Road in Sunbury in order to provide increased safety for pedestrians attempting to cross.

The road currently provides access to Sunbury Recreation Reserve, bus transport services and residential housing for young families in the area, but there is currently no safe place to cross.

Daniel Andrews and the current Member for Sunbury, Josh Bull have failed to respond to local community advocacy on this issue over the last four years.

Only the Liberal Nationals are committed to improving the crossing safety of Victorian families and the local Sunbury community.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Roads and Infrastructure, David Hodgett:

“These pedestrian crossing improvements are important to local residents who want their surrounding roads to be safe.

The credit for this funding belongs to the local community and Cassandra Marr who have worked together and made the case for this important road safety project.”

Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Sunbury, Cassandra Marr:

“Pedestrian crossings save lives.

I have spoken with many local residents who are deeply concerned about safety at this busy and dangerous road and I am proud to announce that a future Liberal Nationals Government will deliver the much needed crossing project for the Sunbury community.”
