Hodgett: Jacinta Allan’s private train waiting room

Jacinta Allan’s private train waiting room

Today in State Parliament, Labor’s Transport Minister Jacinta Allan confirmed that she had spent thousands of taxpayer dollars to establish her own private ministerial waiting room within Bendigo railway station, only 300 metres away from her office.

Victoria’s transport system has been lurching from one crisis to the next under Daniel Andrews and Jacinta Allan. There have been thousands of V/Line train cancellations costing taxpayers tens of millions of dollars, Sky Rail running above suburban family homes, no decision yet on Uber after 15 months and the diversion of regional infrastructure funds to projects in the city.

And as Employment Minister, she is overseeing a jobs crisis in Victoria, especially in the regions where youth unemployment is at record levels.

But rather than fix all the crises in her portfolio, Jacinta Allan’s priority has been to establish her own private lounge so she won’t have to mix with the people affected by her ineptitude.

Jacinta Allan clearly has the wrong priorities. Victorians deserve better than her arrogant elitist approach.
