Parking for St Marks Anglican Church
An elected Liberal Nationals Government will contribute $60,000 to seal the gravel carpark in front of St Marks Anglican Church and community centre in Balnarring.
The church has made a significant investment in the wellbeing of our local community by constructing a modern community centre in 2017 and this car park is now desperately needed.
The current state of this carpark, on crown land, has made it increasingly difficult for parishioners and community members to access the services being provided by the church.
The services and agencies utilising the facility have created a vibrant hub which supports all levels of our community particularly the elderly, disadvantaged and disabled.
As such, it is only fitting that we support this important community work and ensure that access to the church and community centre is as easy as possible as well as being both safe and clean.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Roads and Infrastructure, David Hodgett:
“Projects like these are both cost effective and important for us to recognise the great value they can add to our local communities and I look forward to seeing this project completed under a Matthew Guy led government.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Nepean, Russell Joseph:
“After attending the opening of the community centre last year, it was brought to my attention that the carpark was a necessary piece of infrastructure to ensure the church can make the best connection possible to those in the community who have come to rely on the services they provide.
Thank you to the church community for all that you do and I am thrilled that a Liberal Nationals Government will be able to assist with this carpark, a small but vital piece of infrastructure to support and enhance your good works into the future.”
Comments attributable to Vicar of the Anglican Parish of Flinders with Balnarring, Reverend Jennifer Furphy:
“The Community of St Mark’s Balnarring have been struggling with this terrible carpark situation for years.
As Balnarring has been developed, the traffic and the parking demands – particularly large vehicles such as semi-trailers, horse-floats and boat trailers – have dramatically increased.
We are so grateful to have a local candidate in Mr. Joseph, who has been prepared to take this issue seriously at last.”
