State Liberal Nationals works constructively with the Turnbull Government while Daniel Andrews plays keyboard warrior
The Turnbull Government’s $1.42 billion investment in Victorian infrastructure and better rail services right across the state is great news but it is a cruel reminder of Daniel Andrews’ decision to waste $1.2 billion on tearing up the East West Link contract.
A $1.4 billion investment in Victorian infrastructure is great, but $2.6 billion would have been even better.
ABS census figures released today show that Victoria’s population grew by a record breaking 146,000 in 2016. With this sort of population growth, governments need to work hard to make sure infrastructure keeps pace with our population and we certainly can’t afford to waste $1.2 billion on Daniel Andrews playing politics.
This is why the Liberal Nationals established the Population Policy Taskforce to plan to decentralise Melbourne’s population and develop job opportunities, infrastructure and services in regional cities. Our Population Policy Taskforce is the first holistic approach to planning for Victoria’s burgeoning population growth.
This Federal Government funding is a great win for regional Victoria which has been ignored by this city-centric Premier. Better regional rail helps link communities and economies so Victoria becomes a state of cities rather than a city state.
This Premier is more interested in spending money in Brunswick than Ballarat, Bendigo or Bairnsdale.
