O’Brien: Donvale Bowls Club hit the jackpot

Donvale Bowls Club hit the jackpot

An elected Liberal Nationals Government will contribute $20,000 to support the Donvale Bowls Club, with funds being used to contribute to the modernisation of the kitchen and to support the installation of a covered area for Club bowlers.

This 30 year old club has been dubbed Melbourne’s friendliest bowls club and it is not hard to see why. The membership is lively, energetic and very welcoming to new members and the community alike.

With so much social activity going on at the Club, it is important that the facilities keep pace with the requirements of this vibrant Club.

This funding will add to the generous support from Manningham Council and relieve the burden of Club contribution to these small, but important projects, freeing their funds for other Club needs.

Only a Liberal Nationals Government will prioritise funding for local sporting clubs, instead of giving a multi-million dollar taxpayer handout to the richest sporting competition in Australia.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:

“Ryan Smith has been doing extensive work with the local community to secure this upgrade for the Donvale Bowls Club and has advocated strongly for this funding.

“The Liberal Nationals won’t hand over millions of dollars to the AFL to spend on Etihad Stadium. Our goal will be to prioritise funding to our suburban and country sports clubs.”

Comments attributable to Member for Warrandyte, Ryan Smith:

“There is always a bright and happy atmosphere at Donvale Bowls Club, with everyone pitching in to make their gatherings welcoming and hospitable.

“I am delighted to be able to support these bowlers and the Donvale Bowls Club.”
