Donvale Football Club a winner with Liberal funding
An elected Liberal Nationals Government will contribute $50,000 to support the growth of Donvale Football Club.
With the Under 18 girls winning the 2018 Premiership, and the Seniors taking out last year’s silverware, this successful Club is growing at a huge rate.
With this growth comes a need for additional facilities and training areas, as the availability of space in the local area becomes more difficult to find.
Funding from an elected Liberal Nationals Government will lengthen an adjoining oval, and add nets to make it match-fit, as well as upgrading the lights at the current oval.
This will lead to an additional training and playing ground, as well as opening up the option to add Friday night matches to the season’s fixture.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“Sports clubs are a vital part to the health and wellbeing of growing communities and this upgrade will help increase participation in sport and create a high level sporting facility in the Warrandyte area.
“The Liberal Nationals will always put grass roots sport first, unlike the Labor Party which has spent two thirds of its sport budget on the AFL and elite sport.”
Comments attributable to Member for Warrandyte, Ryan Smith:
“Donvale Football Club has had enormous success recently, supporting junior teams for both boys and girls. It is important that they are supported in their endeavours to encourage young people to get outside and enjoy a team sport.
“While Daniel Andrews is determined to fund the plans of the AFL, only a Liberal Nationals Government will direct funding to grassroots clubs like Donvale Football Club who are such a huge part of our local communities.”
