Liberal Nationals deliver major boost for the Tyabb Football Netball Club
Daniel Andrews has lost control of population growth and its hurting local community sport on the Mornington Peninsula.
That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals Government will commit $376,000 towards the cost of lighting for the back oval and a new electronic scoreboard at the Bunguyan Reserve in Tyabb.
Victoria’s population is growing at around 150,000 people a year and the Andrews Labor Government have failed to properly plan for that growth.
As a result, local suburban and country sporting club facilities are rundown and stretched thin.
Tyabb Football Netball Club’s senior women’s team shares an oval with the men’s team for training in season, compromising both squads’ preparation. The women’s team often have to finish their sessions early to allow the men’s team to have full use of the ground.
This is in addition to many junior teams also having to finish their training on the oval prematurely due to the lack of lighting.
The new lighting will go a long way to supporting all teams within the Tyabb Football Netball Club, enabling them to train properly and be the best they can be.
Labor have been in office in Victoria for 15 of the last 19 years and they have neglected to properly fund local sporting clubs.
With Victoria’s growing population, it’s important that every person in our state has access to sporting facilities. The Liberal Nationals will get back in control of population growth and stand up for all Victorians, unlike the city-centric Andrews Labor Government.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“Daniel Andrews insists on giving $225 million to the AFL to upgrade Etihad Stadium, while local sporting clubs are struggling with old and inadequate facilities.
“These new lights will go a long way to supporting all teams within the Tyabb Football Netball Club enabling them to train properly and be the best they can be.
“Only a Liberal Nationals Government will get back in control of grassroots sport and provide our community sporting clubs with the facilities they need to support local population growth.”
Comments attributable to Member for Hastings, Neale Burgess:
“The lighting here at Bunguyan Reserve is inadequate and outdated. All players should be able to train in lighting that enables them to practise their skills and stay safe.
“It is time the Tyabb Yabbies had the quality sporting facilities they deserve.
“This upgrade is well overdue and the Liberal Nationals are proud to show our support for this club with its rich history and tradition.”
