Liberal Nationals to upgrade Ainslie Park Pavilion
An elected Liberal Nationals Government will contribute $1.5 million towards the redevelopment of Ainslie Park Pavilion.
This funding will allow for the modernisation of the ageing pavilion to include new female change-rooms, new toilet facilities and improved multipurpose rooms to support the needs of the home clubs.
Ainslie Park is home to Ainslie Park Cricket Club and East Ringwood Junior Football Club.
New women’s change-rooms will support an expected, and welcome, increase in female participation at Ainslie Park Cricket Club and East Ringwood Junior Football Club over the next three years.
Unlike Daniel Andrews who has decided to give a massive $225 million of taxpayers’ money to the AFL to upgrade Etihad Stadium, the Liberal Nationals are getting behind cash-strapped local sporting clubs who desperately need our support.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“With increased female participation in sports like football and cricket and more population growth in our suburbs than ever before it’s essential these upgrades are made.
“David Hodgett has been doing extensive work with the Maroondah City Council and local sporting clubs to secure this funding to redevelop Ainslie Park Pavilion.
“The Liberal Nationals won’t hand over millions of dollars to the AFL to spend on Etihad Stadium. Our goal will be to prioritise funding to our suburban and country sports clubs.”
Comments attributable to Member for Croydon, David Hodgett:
“This grant is about opening up more opportunities for local Croydon residents to get involved in grassroots sports and activities, get outdoors, and enjoy our vibrant green spaces.
“By encouraging more women, children, and people of varying abilities to participate, we create more connected communities, which leads to a happier and healthier lifestyle for everyone.”
