Liberal Nationals to upgrade Batterham Reserve
Daniel Andrews has lost control of population growth and its hurting community sport in our local suburbs.
That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals Government will contribute $140,000 towards improvements to the playground and club rooms, and the purchase of exercise equipment at Batterham Reserve in The Basin.
Victoria’s population is growing at around 150,000 people a year and the Andrews Labor Government has failed to properly plan for that growth.
As a result, local suburban and country sporting club facilities are increasingly rundown and stretched.
Boasting numerous junior and senior teams, many players, families, spectators and officials are using the Reserve on a weekend resulting in a huge demand for better facilities.
With Victoria’s growing population, it’s important that every person in our state has access to recreational facilities. The Liberal Nationals will get back in control of population growth and stand up for all Victorians, unlike the Andrews Labor Government.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“The Liberal Nationals are proud to support sporting clubs in The Basin community and are committed to working with local councils, clubs and communities to develop good quality, local facilities that bring more people together through sport.
Local sporting clubs are experiencing a massive growth in participation and are finding it difficult to keep up with the increased demand for quality sporting facilities.
Only the Liberal Nationals will get back in control of grassroots sport and provide our community sporting clubs with the facilities they need and deserve.”
Comments attributable to Member for Bayswater, Heidi Victoria:
“Sport and recreation play a vital role in The Basin community.
“The Basin Bears are a thriving sports club, with an ever-growing membership, who have worked incredibly hard on behalf of their players to improve the facilities and nurture growth at the club.
“This upgrade will ensure that The Basin sports precinct can be enjoyed by the local community for many years to come.”
