Liberal Nationals to upgrade RF Miles Reserve
Daniel Andrews has lost control of population growth and its hurting community sport in our local suburbs.
That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals Government will provide $2.6 million towards the upgrade of RF Miles Reserve, Seaford.
The funding will contribute towards improvements such as a brand new pavilion, an upgrade of the oval to meet senior AFL standards, new oval lighting, scoreboard and coaches box, as well a netball court including lighting and storage and cricket nets.
Victoria’s population is growing at around 150,000 people a year and the Andrews Labor Government have failed to properly plan for that growth.
As a result, local suburban and country sporting club facilities are rundown and stretched thin.
The Seaford Football Netball Club is one of the largest football clubs in the municipality with a membership of 400. The Seaford Football Netball Club also has the most female teams of any football club in the municipality with three senior AFL teams and four netball teams.
Labor have been in office in Victoria for 15 of the last 19 years and they have neglected to properly fund local sporting clubs.
With Victoria’s growing population, it’s important that every person in our state has access to sporting facilities. The Liberal Nationals will get back in control of population growth and stand up for all Victorians, unlike the city-centric Andrews Labor Government.
Comments attributable to Shadow Treasurer, Michael O’Brien:
“Local sporting clubs are experiencing a rapid growth in participation and are unable to keep up with the increased demand in quality sporting facilities.
Only a Liberal Nationals Government will get back in control of grassroots sport and provide our community sporting clubs with the facilities they need to support local population growth.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Carrum, Donna Bauer:
“Our local sporting clubs are a vital part of our community.
This funding will improve the facilities used by players and visitors alike, and will help the club to cater for an increased number of patrons, as well as supporting their members.
The Liberal Nationals are commited to getting back in control of population growth and supporting women in sport and this commitment will help ensure their facilities are up-to-date and up to standard.”
