Major upgrade for Forest Hill sporting clubs
An elected Liberal Nationals Government led by Matthew Guy will commit $500,000 towards upgrading clubrooms shared by the Forest Hill Football Netball Club and the Forest Hill Cricket Club at Forest Hill Reserve.
Forest Hill Football Netball Club and the Forest Hill Cricket Club face continuing growth in their member numbers and are supported by a thriving 1000-strong local community.
In addition, the rapid growth in female participation and an increase in female umpires has created challenges for the clubs, particularly in relation to sharing change room facilities.
The funding will allow the clubs to plan and upgrade clubrooms, as well as provide much needed changing facilities for female players and umpires.
Unlike Daniel Andrews who has decided to give a massive $225 million of taxpayers’ money to the AFL to upgrade Etihad Stadium, the Liberal Nationals are getting behind cash-strapped local sporting clubs who desperately need our support.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“Neil is focusing on the issues that matter and he’s fighting for his local community and that’s why the Liberal Nationals are backing his policy to make Forest Hill Football Netball and Cricket Clubs the best they can be.
“The Liberal Nationals will always put grass roots sport first, unlike the Labor Party which has spent two thirds of its sport budget on the AFL and elite sport.”
Comments attributable to Member for Forest Hill, Neil Angus:
“I am delighted a Liberal Nationals Government has pledged to deliver $500,000 in funding towards the redevelopment of clubroom facilities at Forest Hill Reserve.
“I have raised the issue in Parliament and invited the Minister for Sport to visit the Club on multiple occasions, but to no avail.
“The Forest Hill Football Netball Club and the Forest Hill Cricket Club deserve this funding to service their growing communities and to ensure their future development.”
