Malvern Central School to get funding boost under the Liberals
An elected Liberal Nationals government will deliver Malvern Central School a $705,000 funding boost for important maintenance works, Member for Malvern and Shadow Treasurer Michael O’Brien said today.
The school, located in Spring Road, Malvern, educates around 450 students but has been neglected under the Labor government.
As local MP, Michael O’Brien has visited the school on a number of occasions and seen the poor state of some of the facilities.
Following discussions with school representatives, a number of high priority maintenance projects have been identified for funding under a Liberal government.
The projects are:
- $250,000 towards the restoration of the main building roof (Spring Rd campus);
- $80,000 towards the replacement of artificial turf at both Spring Rd and Park St campuses;
- $195,000 towards the demolition and replacement of bathrooms at Spring Rd campus; and
- $180,000 towards the demolition and replacement of bathrooms at the Park St campus.
Comments attributable to Member for Malvern, Michael O’Brien:
“Malvern Central School has been neglected under Labor but a Liberal government will deliver more than $700,000 to bring the school’s facilities up to standard.
“State school parents shouldn’t have to raise money so their children can use a decent bathroom or to fix a water damaged roof.
“A Liberal government will replace the bathrooms, fix the artificial turf and repair the roof so that the students of Malvern Central School can have the facilities they deserve”.
