New lights for Warrandyte Reserve
An elected Liberal Nationals Government will contribute $20,000 towards improving the lights at Warrandyte Reserve.
The growing population squeeze in Warrandyte is putting pressure on our local sporting clubs.
In support of the Warrandyte Football, Netball and Cricket Clubs, the previous Liberal Government made a significant contribution to the new Clubrooms, which have since become a hub for the Warrandyte community.
That support will continue under a Matthew Guy-led government.
Better lighting will mean that football and cricket matches could be played on Friday and Saturday nights.
By expanding the times the field is available, women’s and girls’ teams will also be able to participate in night games and training sessions.
These new facilities will create a state of the art environment for grassroots sport to ensure local sporting clubs can keep up with population growth.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“Unlike Daniel Andrews who has decided to give a massive $225 million of taxpayers’ money to the AFL to upgrade Etihad Stadium, the Liberal Nationals are getting behind cash-strapped local sporting clubs who desperately need our support.
Ryan Smith is fighting hard to make sure his local clubs have the facilities they need so they can continue to play sport and engage with the community.”
Comments attributable to Member for Warrandyte, Ryan Smith:
“As a long time sponsor of both Warrandyte Football Club and Warrandyte Cricket Club, I am delighted to be able to broaden that support to these dynamic clubs.
While Daniel Andrews is determined to fund the plans of the AFL, only a Liberal Government will direct funding to grassroots clubs like those in Warrandyte who are such a huge part of our local communities.”
