Major funding boost to Boronia sporting clubs
If elected, a Liberal Nationals Government will contribute a $310,000 grant towards a major upgrade of the Boronia Football, Cricket and Netball club facilities.
The installation of lighting, an undercover area and a multipurpose training area at the ground will allow multiple teams to train and practice at the same time, as well as play more night games.
Unlike Daniel Andrews who has decided to give a massive $225 million of taxpayers’ money to the AFL to upgrade Etihad Stadium, the Liberal Nationals are getting behind cash-strapped local sporting clubs who desperately need our support.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“Heidi Victoria has been doing extensive work with the local community to secure this upgrade for the sports clubs at Tormore Reserve and has advocated strongly for this funding.
“The Liberal Nationals won’t hand over millions of dollars to the AFL to spend on Etihad Stadium. Our goal will be to prioritise funding to our suburban and country sports clubs.”
Comments attributable to Member for Bayswater, Heidi Victoria:
“Suburban sporting clubs are the lifeblood of our communities.
“This upgrade will improve ground access for hundreds of club members and is a fantastic win for our local sporting clubs. I am proud to have advocated for this result.
“Only a Liberal Nationals Government will continue to support our local sporting clubs and give them the funding they deserve.”
