Sentence of Joseph Wakim

Today, Joseph Wakim had his sentence cut to a mere 18 months for grooming and then having sex with a 13 year old boy as well as having his 300 hours of community service removed.

It is not difficult to understand why Victorians have become so frustrated with soft sentences coming out of our courts when despicable crimes like this are treated so lightly.

The Liberal Nationals have been calling on Daniel Andrews for over two years now to fix this without any action.

Daniel Andrews loves to repeat his slogan that he is “putting people first” but it is clear that these are just hollow words because time and time again, victims are coming last in Victoria.

Victoria’s justice system can be fixed but it requires a government that is committed to doing so but it is clear that the Andrews Government is completely disinterested.

If ever there was an example of how broken Victoria’s justice system is, this is it.  Daniel Andrews can no longer ignore what every other Victorian already knows, the justice system is in crisis.

Daniel Andrews appears to be putting offenders first, and innocent Victorians last
