Reckless Labor threatens Point Nepean Project

The Andrews Government has again proven it can’t be trusted with Victorian taxpayers’ money and major projects, threatening to rip up the contracts of the proposed Point Nepean project.

The proposed investment at Point Nepean which the Coalition entered into would see a significant saving to the taxpayer of $40 million in maintenance work over the next 20 years, as well as bringing 400 construction and ongoing jobs to the area.

Daniel Andrews’ claim that he will rip up the 50-year lease could again see Victorian taxpayers hit with another multi-million dollar contract pay-out.

Quotes attributable to Shadow Minister for Environment, Brad Battin

“Daniel Andrews’ claim that he will rip up the signed 50-year lease between the State of Victoria and the Point Leisure Group is another example of his reckless approach to Victoria’s economic future.

“Daniel Andrews’ actions will ensure that the Quarantine Station buildings will continue to deteriorate, with an ongoing cost to Victorian taxpayers.

“This uninformed and irresponsible pattern of behaviour of ripping up legal and binding contracts will actively discourage business investment in Victoria.

“This has been an outstanding proposal that would significantly boost local tourism, heritage and education, while preserving the local environment.”
