Safer Scout and Guide halls for Bentleigh
Scout and guide halls in Bentleigh are in a dilapidated state and only a Liberal Nationals Government will provide a safe, modern and comfortable environment for cubs, scouts, venturers and rovers to enjoy their scouting activities.
Our scouts and guides deserve better and that’s why if elected, a Matthew Guy Government will contribute $200,000 in matched funding towards the upgrade of six halls in the Bentleigh electorate.
The upgrades will include restoration from flood damage, installation of modern air conditioning and insulation to help to cut energy costs, alarms and event-capable kitchens.
Scout groups to benefit from the upgrade funding will be the 1st / 3rd Bentleigh Guides, the 1st McKinnon Scout Group, the 15th Brighton Scout Group in Bentleigh, the 1st Bentleigh Scout Group, the 1st Central Moorabbin Scout Group in East Bentleigh and the 5th/6th Central Moorabbin in East Bentleigh.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Young Victorians and Deputy Leader of The Nationals, Steph Ryan:
“Scout and guide halls need our help. We want to support scouts and guides because they give young people great skills for life.
“Asher has been doing extensive work with his local scouts and guides to help improve the conditions of their halls and encourage young people in the community to get involved.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Bentleigh, Asher Judah:
“I was a cub and a scout in the 15th Brighton Scout Troop and the hall still looks the same as it did back when I was a part of the troop.
“Scout and guide halls are used by a wide range of community, social and school groups, with more than 20,000 scouts in Victoria. This investment will deliver a safer space and modernise the site so it can be used well into the future.
“A Matthew Guy Government and I will ensure our hardworking scouts and guides around Bentleigh will continue to get the support they deserve.”
