Liberal Nationals pledge to conduct Feasibility Study for a new local high school in Ivanhoe
Every student deserves to have access to local schools and quality education.
If elected in November, a Liberal Nationals Government will conduct a Feasibility Study for a new local high school in the suburb of Ivanhoe to help ease the population squeeze.
Currently the electorate has only two government secondary schools to service it’s growing population and to provide quality education for its children.
A Labor Government has presided over Victoria for 15 of the 19 years. In that time, Labor has neglected education in the Ivanhoe electorate. Local Labor Member Anthony Carbines MP, was actually Chief of Staff to the Education Minister when schools were being closed in the electorate.
Population increases and higher density developments have impacted the community, escalating pressures on schools, creating overcrowding and decreasing access to local schools.
Unlike the Labor Government and local Member Anthony Carbines, Liberal Candidate for Ivanhoe, Monica Clark and the Liberal Nationals are listening to the concerns of parents in the local community.
The Liberal Nationals are committed to quality and local accessible education.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:
“The Labor Government has neglected Ivanhoe for far too long. This feasibility study demonstrates our commitment to improving accessibility to education for children.
The Liberal Nationals are committed to giving local students every chance they need to access local schools and pursue a quality education.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Ivanhoe, Monica Clark:
“I am delighted to announce this commitment to conduct a feasibility study into a new local high school.
Overcrowding of schools in our electorate is totally unacceptable and our children and community deserve much better.
I have listened to the parent’s concerns and this announcement demonstrates my commitment to improving accessibility to quality education for children and families in the Ivanhoe electorate.
As I door knock the Ivanhoe electorate I constantly hear from locals how important a new secondary is for Ivanhoe.”
