Liberal Nationals pledge to rebuild Norwood Secondary College

An elected Liberal Nationals Government will rebuild Norwood Secondary College, starting with a $15 million commitment to stage-one of a two-stage redevelopment.

A Labor Government has presided over Victoria for 15 of the past 19 years. In that time, Norwood has not received any funding for upgrades to its outdated classrooms and learning spaces.

Part-time Education Minister, James Merlino, once said “you can’t get a first-rate education in a second-rate classroom” and yet, he has continued to ignore the school’s repeated pleas for new and modernised learning spaces.

Unlike James Merlino and the Labor Government, the Liberal Nationals are listening to the Norwood Secondary College community. If elected, a Matthew Guy Government will ensure Norwood gets the funds it needs to complete a master plan and rebuild this sixty year old school.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:

“Norwood Secondary College has been overlooked by the Labor Government for this funding for far too long, which is further proof the so-called ‘education state’ slogan is not worth the number plates it’s written on and I’m pleased we can right this wrong.

The Liberal Nationals are committed to redeveloping Norwood Secondary School and give local students every chance they need to pursue a quality education.”

Comments attributable to Member for Ringwood, Dee Ryall:

“I’ve fought long and hard for Norwood to get its fair share of funding to develop its master plan and redevelop its classrooms and learning spaces.”

“Norwood has waited long enough. Under a Matthew Guy Government, the students and teachers at Norwood Secondary College will get the 21st century learning facilities they so desperately need.”
