Liberal Nationals to upgrade Box Hill High School
A Liberal Nationals Government will invest $5.5 million to upgrade Box Hill High School’s classrooms and facilities.
Out of control population growth in Box Hill is placing enormous pressure on our schools.
Box Hill High School is one of Victoria’s best performing schools, but instead of backing the school, Labor has punished it. Labor promised to upgrade Box Hill High School in 2014, but instead it axed the funding committed to the school by the former Liberal Nationals Government.
In 2017, Labor’s education bureaucrats went further and ordered Box Hill High School to cut its enrolments, forcing the school to slash its highly-recognised gifted student program and dashing the hopes of gifted students and their families across the community.
A Liberal Nationals Government will reverse these cuts, allowing Box Hill High School to expand its classroom space and modernise facilities for students and staff.
This investment will allow Box Hill High School to meet growing enrolment numbers and allow the school to save its gifted student program.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:
“Only a Liberal Nationals Government will support Box Hill High School’s need for more classroom space and allow it to maintain its solid tradition of academic excellence.
Daniel Andrews’ treatment of Box Hill High School shows his ‘education state’ slogan isn’t worth the number plates it’s printed on.”
Comments attributable to Member for Box Hill, Robert Clark:
“Box Hill High School’s students and staff shouldn’t have to put up with Labor’s cuts or its ideological dislike of gifted student programs.
With an ever increasing population throughout Box Hill and Blackburn, we need a government that will support Box Hill High School to expand its enrolments, not cut them.
$5.5 million from a Liberal Nationals Government will ensure Box Hill High School can keep up with growing enrolments and keep producing great results.”
