Southwick: Andrews “Not Good Enough” on Gas

Andrews “Not Good Enough” on Gas

This afternoon the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has slammed Daniel Andrew’s moratorium on onshore gas, stating that the ban has directly lead to higher gas prices.

The ACCC has confirmed Victoria has “a fundamental supply problem” and that allowing onshore gas reserves into the market would reduce energy prices for Victorians, yet Daniel Andrews refuses to act.

The Labor Government is in denial over our gas crisis, wasting $42.5 million on a report whilst gas prices continue to soar and Victorian’s face shortages over the coming year.

The Liberal Nationals Coalition has listened to industry and regulators and has committed to opening-up Victoria’s onshore gas reserves, drive down gas prices and maintaining the ban on fracking.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, David Southwick:

“Daniel Andrew’s onshore gas ban is driving up prices and having detrimental effects on Victorian businesses and households.

“When will Daniel Andrews listen to industry experts and get serious about energy affordability in Victoria?

“Only the Victorian Coalition will open-up Victoria’s gas reserves, driving down prices whilst maintaining the ban on fracking.”
