Treading the boards in Camperdown

The historical Royal Theatre is an iconic landmark right in the heart of Camperdown.

An elected Liberal Nationals Government, will continue to ensure the longevity of the theatre by committing $1,000,000 towards vital additions and upgrades to the theatre.

The upgrades will include a new heating and cooling system and replacement of seating in the balcony section. Theatre goers will benefit from a more enjoyable experience with new sound and lighting upgrades.

The Theatre is the Corangamite Shire’s only preforming arts venue and serves the varied needs of a large rural community including school groups, theatre groups and The Camperdown and District Historical Society.

Only the Liberal Nationals maintain our cultural assets, particularly in our regional communities.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for the Arts, Tourism and Culture, Heidi Victoria:

We must continue to invest in Victoria’s historical buildings, because once they are lost, they are lost forever.

Richard Riordan has been a fierce advocate for the Camperdown Royal Theatre and ensuring it stays in tip top condition.

Comments attributable to Member for Polwarth, Richard Riordan:

The community, council and performing arts groups have all advocated on behalf of their historical theatre and we are here today to tell everyone their hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Camperdown families have been coming and enjoying the performances at the theatre for generations. This funding will ensure this can continue long into the future.
