Wakeling: A cleaner, greener Knox

Thursday 4 October 2018

A cleaner, greener Knox

An elected Liberal Nationals Government will provide $200,000 to upgrade the local environment in Knox for a cleaner and greener community.

The Friends of Blind Creek Billabong and Friends of Koolunga Reserve will each receive $50,000 to protect Knox’s natural assets, with an additional $100,000 to be allocated to revegetate Blind Creek in Wantirna South.

Funding will go towards helping revegetate Koolunga Reserve as part of the Koolunga Native Reserve Management Plan, as well as supporting the revegetation, weed control and clean-up of Blind Creek, and protecting the native flora and fauna found in those areas.

An incoming Matthew Guy-led government will work with Knox City Council and the local Friends groups on how the funds can best be spent protecting our local environmental assets.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minster for Environment, Nick Wakeling:

“As the local member, and as Shadow Minister for the Environment, I’m proud to be supporting the efforts our local environmental and nature groups.

“This is about preserving our green spaces for the enjoyment of future generations, and we should do what we can to protect our local biodiversity and ecosystems.”
