Hallam and Hampton Park to have their say on drainage site

For the last 50 years, the residents of Hallam and Hampton Park have had to live with a vacant parcel of land originally designated for a golf course that has never come to life.

Liberal Candidate for Narre Warren South, Susan Serey and Liberal Candidate for Narre Warren North, Vikki Fitzgerald today announced that a Matthew Guy-led Liberal Nationals Government will run an official survey of the local community about the possible future use of this land to help to resolve a vexed local issue once and for all.

The Hallam Drainage site (adjacent to the Hallam Main Drain and Hallam Linear Park) is currently subject to flooding, and is degraded, unsightly and under-utilised.

Previously identified options for the site have included a cycling or walking track, golf course, sports grounds and parkland, but no project has come to fruition.

Only the Liberals will listen to locals on this important community asset.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Environment, Nick Wakeling:

“It’s no wonder Casey residents aren’t getting their fair share when Luke Donnellan and Judith Graley don’t even live anywhere near their electorates.

“Susan and Vikki have been listening to their local communities and working hard with our team to deliver more local funding where it matters most.”

Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Narre Warren South, Susan Serey:

“If Judith Graley was doing her job properly and really representing her local community, then the future of this piece of land would have been resolved years ago.

“I’m working hard with Matthew Guy and his team on important local issues such as this because our community deserves a Member of Parliament that’s fighting hard for them.”

Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Narre Warren North, Vikki Fitzgerald:

“Our community needs more open space and a local dedicated Member of Parliament who cares, listens and acts on the needs of people in Hallam.

“Luke Donnellan has been the absent MP for 16 years and has chosen to ignore this area and do nothing in all that time – Narre Warren North deserves better.

“Our region has a lot to be proud of and this survey will help our community become an even better place to live.”
